Hurri-K9 Dog Training + Owner Education

About Me

My name is Kenneth Bess. I am a graduate of the Koru K9 Dog Training Master Program, and have experience in handling severe aggression, behavior modification and bite cases with breeds such as Akitas, Shepherds, and Malinois.

In addition to my role as a professional dog trainer, I volunteer at The Animal League. My partner, Ashley, and I also work as a foster for dogs who are reactive to help them get placed into forever homes.

My goal is to provide you with the tools you need to develop better communication and understanding between you and your dog, so you can share your lives together, regardless of what activities you're passionate about pursuing. Whether your dog has basic obedience needs, reactivity or aggression issues I want to be able to help owners understand the specific behavioral quirks their dogs exhibit and work towards a balanced lifestyle for them.

Growing up with 2 Rottweilers helped me to understand at an early age the importance of training and boundaries for our animals so that we can provide them with the life they truly deserve.

As a native of Miami, FL native who moved to Orlando, FL in 2012. I'm an animal lover and intimately familiar with the resources you'll need to live your best life with your dog. I'm always excited to meet new dog owners, feel free to reach out directly with any questions you have about professional dog behavioral training, we look forward to hearing from you.

Board and Train Programs

Board and Train programs are perfect for almost all dog owners. Some owners want a professional jumpstart to your dog training, others will use a trip out of town as an opportunity to complete professional dog training. Many owners are excited to come home from a long, relaxing, vacation to a well trained dog. We've helped dog owners get their dogs ready for major life events such as moving into a new home, or adding a new baby to the family.

We will work closely with you to evaluate your dogs' temperament, level of training and ability to follow directions so that we can help you determine which program will be best for you and your dog.

All Board and Train programs are conducted in our trainer's home environment, so your dog will receive constant care, structured daily activities, and supervision from our professional dog trainer. This in-home care and support is meant to create a training environment that is similar to your home environment, and we've observed that this method helps your dog transition back to your home more easily.

We have several safety precautions in place when caring for your dog in our home. All dogs are weighed upon arrival and weekly throughout their stay in the program to ensure we are maintaining a proper nutrition and exercise routine for their health level. We have live video monitoring on our training and kennel areas and use Air Tag collars on dogs from the moment they are picked up. All training areas are securely fenced, locked and sanitized. Each dog has their own kennel which is cleaned weekly and sanitized in between each client stay.

Each week we will send you updates that include photos and videos of training progress so you can still "see" your furry best friend while they are enrolled in the program, in addition to recaps on the training plan for that week.

All board and train programs include a "Welcome Home" session and 1 follow up session so we can work with you through each exercise we develop for your dog and how to manage their routine in your daily life.

The Board and Train program is one of many ways to start or supplement your dogs training. Above all else, consistency is key and we are always here to help in any way we can if you need anything!  Contact us today with questions or if you would like to set up time to discuss our Board and Train program in greater depth.

About Our Training

We take a balanced approach to professional dog training, which means we use a combination of both positive reinforcement as well as communication tools. These tools will help you and your dog communicate through a series of rewards, your dog will build the positive behaviors we want your dog to focus on. Our training also introduces your dog to the concept of consequences, designed to deter your dog from negative behavior that we do not want to reinforce.  Think of your dog's mind like a hurricane; Inside this hurricane is all the thoughts, smells, sensations and interactions they have throughout the day. Swirling around getting stronger and stronger the more they are able to reinforce a behavior. The communication tools we use help break through all of the noise that hurricane is making in their mind and allow them to redirect, settle, and focus on the task at hand or calm the storm.

All of our communication tools function to provide your dog with corrective feedback about their behavior without causing pain or undue discomfort to your pet.

We use E-Collars, Prong Collars and Slip leads. Occasionally, depending on the behaviors your dog specifically exhibits, we also use muzzles or tie backs.
